Why we are different

We have one of the largest litigation practices in west Texas, and we handle all types of cases from the smallest rear-end collision to the largest fatality trucking accident.

As such, there is no shortage of work in our firm and no shortage of opportunities for associates. Our associates are immediately exposed to the entire world of litigation; with the appropriate training and supervision, associates regularly take and defend depositions, represent clients at mediations and argue hearings in state and federal courts. The typical associate at our firm also participates at least as second chair in a trial during the first year of practice and many more thereafter. While research and writing are a critical component of our associates’ training and development, our associates are not locked in an office conducting legal research or summarizing documents.

We train our associates to practice law and litigate cases beginning to end early in their careers. We are therefore only looking for those few highly-motivated, self-starter individuals with strong character that are willing to accept the challenge of becoming exceptional trial lawyers.

Summer Clerkship

five week clerkship during the second half of the summer

second year law students

We are looking for outstanding candidates with a serious desire to work in El Paso after graduation. We treat our summer law clerks like they are first year associates, by giving them challenging and meaningful assignments in pending cases and taking them to observe client meetings, site inspections, depositions, mediations, hearings, and trials. Our summer law clerks are not assigned to a specific practice area; they are assigned two supervising shareholders and a supervising associate, but they receive assignments from most of our shareholders, allowing them to experience a wide range of legal issues in different areas of the law. Our summer law clerks also get to experience life on the border by participating in a number of recreational activities during the summer, such as lunches, dinners, social gatherings, happy hours, and sporting and cultural events.

We conduct on campus interviews at many law schools in Texas. If you are attending law school in another State or if we are not coming to your law school, we are still very interested in you. Please send your cover letter, resume, transcript and writing sample to our Recruiting Chairs, Andres E. Almanzan (almanzan@mgmsg.com) and David M. Mirazo (mirazo@mgmsg.com).

In addition to our summer clerkship program, we also hire third-year law students, recent graduates, and more experienced attorneys, as needed. If you are interested in a position with our law firm, please send your cover letter, resume, transcript and writing sample to our Recruiting Chairs Andres E. Almanzan (almanzan@mgmsg.com) and David M. Mirazo (mirazo@mgmsg.com).
